Chaplet of the Holy Face

Lord show us your Face and we shall be saved

Holy%20f1

Please pray daily with the members and friends of the Marian Catechist Apostolate as requested by His Eminence Cardinal Raymond Burke the The Chaplet of the Holy Face  for the Third Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which is scheduled to take place in Rome from October 5th to October 19th. The theme of the Synod is The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization.

Saint Athanasius  relates that the devils being asked what verse in all of Holy Scripture they feared the most, replied, “That with which the sixty-seventh Psalm commences,’ Let God arise…..”  They said that this always compelled them to take flight.

CHAPLET OF THE HOLY FACE

God, come to my assistance.

Lord, make haste to help me.

Glory to the Father…

(say one time )

 Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered;

let those who hate Him flee before His Holy Face.

(33 times in honor of the mortal life of Our Lord)

Glory to the Father…

(3 in honor of the Trinity)

Pray this chaplet using 33 beads of an ordinary rosary or a Holy Face Chaplet rosary

PS  May the Pope, Cardinals and Bishops of the Church be truly docile to the Holy Spirit and seek the Truth

May Almighty God protect them from themselves, the World, and the devil

Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us

Seat of Wisdom, pray for us

         St Athanasius, pray for us

“This Salutary Reparation to the Holy Face of Jesus is a Divine Work, Destined to Save Modern Society” (Pius IX). The chaplet itself is said for the “Triumph of His Holy Church, and the downfall of her enemies.” It is well to recite daily to obtain this.

I feel called to pray this chaplet daily for the next year for the Church and I was wondering where you found the instructions for praying this chaplet? I can’t seem to find an official or original version and there are a few different variations found online. Can you point me in the right direction? I do prefer your version but I’d like to stick with the sanctioned one or the original.

    Thank you!

Hi Terry, thanks for visiting the site. This is the way that His Eminence Cardinal Burke asked us to pray the Chaplet of the Holy Face exactly. I also found other ways that were similar, but not the same. I prefer to trust His Eminence and the way he specifically asked us to pray the Chaplet of the Holy Face. However, I will look for the official , original way also, and get back to you. I know their are a few variations out there.

Thanks for replying Lee! I was hoping that was the case (that Cardinal Burke specified this method). I too will stick with this one in that case.

I did come across an old scan (into pdf format) of the archconfraternity’s manual of the Holy Face which outlines a different method (commonly found online) which I believe will be acceptable too. If you are interested in downloading a copy of the manual for yourself, the link is here (it’s a large file):

        http://www.holyfacedevotion.com/files/ManualoftheArchconfraternityoftheHolyFace.pdf

The chaplet instructions start on page 233 in the manual (pdf page 269). Keep in mind this is that confraternity’s chosen method so it is efficacious as well (I believe). I would prefer something more official or documented by the Church (such as the Raccolta) but I’ve found nothing so far.

My mind is at ease now and I’m going to settle in with this devotion, thanks Lee!
